Basketball Game Preview: Black Hills Wolves vs. Yelm Tornados

The Black Hills Wolves are taking a road trip to challenge the Yelm Tornados at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Black Hills has three straight wins, Yelm has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Monday, Black Hills made easy work of Elma and carried off a 54-28 victory. The Wolves pushed the score to 45-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Black Hills' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kiley McMahon, who went 8 for 19 on her way to 22 points and five steals. The match was McMahon's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Buchanan, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Yelm played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Graham-Kapowsin, falling 54-34.

Black Hills pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Yelm, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Black Hills didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Yelm in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 54-48 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Black Hills since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
