Baseball Game Preview: Maryville Red Rebels vs. Bearden Bulldogs

The Maryville Red Rebels will head out to square off against the Bearden Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Maryville is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

On Wednesday, Maryville narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past West 6-5. That's two games straight that the Red Rebels have won by just one run.

Cohen Babelay was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Maryville hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West struck out six times.

Meanwhile, Bearden won against Hardin Valley Academy last Monday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again last Tuesday. The Bulldogs walked away with a 5-1 victory over Knoxville Central. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Bearden pushed their record up to 28-6 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Maryville, their record now sits at 20-15-1.

Maryville suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Bearden in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Red Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
