Basketball Recap: Roanoke Rapids Sets Scoring Season-High Against Southern Nash

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Roanoke Rapids). They strolled past the Southern Nash Firebirds with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 59-45. That's two games straight that the Yellowjackets have won by exactly 14 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roanoke Rapids to victory, but perhaps none more so than Khamauri Wood, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Wood has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Spillane, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds.

Roanoke Rapids was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Firebirds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brandon Hill, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 12 points and eight rebounds. Hill is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Hartsfield, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points.

Roanoke Rapids' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. As for Southern Nash, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Roanoke Rapids didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-43 victory against Gates County on the 26th. As for Southern Nash, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-35 loss against Hunt on the 26th.
