Preview: Harrison Central Red Rebels vs. Brandon Bulldogs
The Harrison Central Red Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Brandon Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Harrison Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Brandon is ranked third).
Last Thursday, Harrison Central took a serious blow against Gulfport, falling 49-7. Harrison Central has not had much luck with Gulfport recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
The losing side was boosted by Tyree Barnett, who picked up 128 receiving yards and a touchdown. Barnett's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards.
Meanwhile, Brandon came tearing into Thursday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 27-10 victory over Northwest Rankin.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brandon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nate Blount iv, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown. Quincy Phillips Jr. did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 102 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Harrison Central has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Brandon, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
Harrison Central might still be hurting after the 39-13 loss they got from Brandon in their previous meeting back in November of 2021. Can Harrison Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
