Basketball Recap: Liberal Takes a Loss

Liberal was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 65-32 loss at the hands of the Hooker Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Redskins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 244th in Kansas, while the Bulldogs are ranked 32nd in Oklahoma).

Liberal's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Fieser, who posted 11 points. Jakyree Washington was another key player, putting up eight points.

Liberal's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Hooker, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberal will venture away from home to square off against Great Bend at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Great Bend will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Liberal surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hooker, they will head out on the road to challenge Alva at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
