Volleyball Recap: Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy Comes Up Short

If Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Summit Leadership Academy on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Victor Valley Christian Royals on Friday. That makes it the first time this season Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy has let down their home crowd.

While Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21.

Victor Valley Christian can attribute much of their success to Olivia Metler, who had 18 digs and ten assists. That's the most digs Metler has posted since back in October of 2024.

Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-3. As for Victor Valley Christian, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

Coincidentally, Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy and Victor Valley Christian will both be playing Lucerne Valley the next time they take the court. Victor Valley Christian will head out to face Lucerne Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy will host them at 5:30 p.m. on October 9.
