Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Liberty). They put the hurt on the Mojave Rattlers with a sharp 93-73 win on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Lions have posted since December 18, 2024.
Leading Liberty to victory were Jackson Hunter and Jacob Hunter. Jackson went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 27 points in addition to six boards and five assists, while Jacob went 10 of 22 on his way to 31 points. The dominant performance gave Jacob a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Topolosek, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.
Defeat or not, Mojave got some senior leadership from C.J. Shaw and Zacarrion Jackson. Shaw went 7 of 16 on his way to 22 points in addition to five assists and four steals, while Jackson went 6 for 12 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Shaw is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 36 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was I'Jon Jackson, who posted six points.
Liberty's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Mojave, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-5.
Liberty didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 77-73 victory against Destiny Christian Academy on the 4th. As for Mojave, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 59-53 win against Highland on the 4th.
