Basketball Recap: Braydon Prospero's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Central over Sunlake

If Central was feeling good fresh off their 59-23 takedown of Hernando Christian Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Central Bears fell 55-46 to the Sunlake Seahawks on Monday. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Seahawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

Central lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Braydon Prospero, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 22 points and three steals. Prospero's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavior Haegele, who went 7 of 8 on his way to 15 points and three steals.

It was another big night for Christopher Murray, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 22 points for Sunlake. That makes it three consecutive games in which Murray has scored at least a third of Sunlake's points.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Sunlake, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 53-49 loss against Hernando on the 10th. As for Sunlake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-54 win against Sports Leadership & Management on the 11th.
