Basketball Recap: Watervliet Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Watervliet faced off against Allegan on Friday. The Watervliet Panthers lost 44-19 to the Allegan Tigers. The Panthers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Despite the defeat, Watervliet saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Daijahnae Hatcher posted four points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards set a new season-high mark for Hatcher.

Even though they lost, Watervliet smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Watervliet's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Allegan, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Watervliet and Parchment will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Allegan, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Berrien Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
