Basketball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Mahtomedi's Winning Streak

After flying high against Columbia Heights last Wednesday, Mahtomedi came back down to earth. The Mahtomedi Zephyrs fell 55-45 to the Stillwater Ponies on Friday. The game marked the Zephyrs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

The loss snapped Mahtomedi's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-3 record. As for Stillwater, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mahtomedi will venture away from home to challenge Menomonie at 2:00 p.m. on December 30th. As for Stillwater, they will head out on the road to face off against Andover at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Andover knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Stillwater likes a good challenge.
