Basketball Game Preview: Caravel Buccaneers vs. St. Elizabeth Vikings

The Caravel Buccaneers will challenge the St. Elizabeth Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Caravel is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against St. Georges Tech on Friday. Caravel was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to St. Georges Tech. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Delaware basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Hawks are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, St. Elizabeth entered their tilt with St. Mark's on Sunday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 57-53 W against the Spartans.

St. Elizabeth's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points over those games. As for Caravel, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.

Things could have been worse for Caravel, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 70-53 loss to St. Elizabeth in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Caravel avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
