Preview: Fairfield Lions vs. Fayetteville-Perry Rockets
Fairfield is 8-2 against Fayetteville-Perry since November of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Fairfield Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Fayetteville-Perry Rockets at 7:30 p.m. Fairfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 417th, while Fayetteville-Perry is ranked 170th).
Last Monday, Fairfield came up short against Whiteoak and fell 42-31.
Meanwhile, Fayetteville-Perry unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They suffered a rough 58-35 loss at the hands of Lynchburg-Clay. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Fayetteville-Perry has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Scarlett Crawford, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Ryley Kleemeyer, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Fairfield now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Fayetteville-Perry, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Fairfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Fayetteville-Perry in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 46-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fairfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
