Baseball Recap: Charles City Victorious

While Charles City's win against King & Queen Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Royal Tigers on Tuesday. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Damian Barnes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Barnes was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing six bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Damian Zuidema, who scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jamil Roberson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Charles City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
