Softball Recap: Fredericksburg Christian's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

It was a good run, but Fredericksburg Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 8-4 to the Rappahannock Raiders.

Scarlett Whittaker was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Rylie Johnson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Kaleigh Dillman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Fredericksburg Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Rappahannock, their record is now 2-3.

Looking ahead, Fredericksburg Christian will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Colonial Beach at 4:30 p.m. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Drifters have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season. As for Rappahannock, they will head out on the road to square off against Warhill at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 15 runs per game this season.
