Baseball Recap: Fairview Comes Up Short

The Fairview Knights didn't have quite enough to beat the May River Sharks on Saturday and fell 9-8. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Liam Goetz was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Jackson Wier was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Dillon Leckey also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Fairview's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for May River, they pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairview will square off against Silver Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for May River, they will take on Bluffton at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Bluffton will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something May River surely won't give up without a fight.
