Baseball Recap: O'Connor Takes a Loss

If O'Connor was feeling good fresh off their 12-2 takedown of Harlan last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The O'Connor Panthers took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brennan Bears on Wednesday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Ryan Mason put in work no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Mason wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rudy Perez, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

O'Connor has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. Brennan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.

While O'Connor had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.
