The Kewaunee Storm will challenge the Brillion Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Kewaunee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Kewaunee is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Two Rivers just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Purple Raiders by a score of 7-6.
Brady Pribek was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Pribek was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Brillion, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They never let Hilbert get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Saturday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by six runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Chase Braun's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Brillion is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.
At the plate, Hayden Cousin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Brillion's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Blake Kettner also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Brillion was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hilbert only posted a batting average of .048.
Brillion pushed their record up to 5-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Kewaunee, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Kewaunee was able to grind out a solid victory over Brillion in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 7-2. Do the Storm have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
