Basketball Recap: St. John Drops Season-High Score on North Prairie Co-Op [Rolla/Rolette]

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. John). They snuck past the North Prairie co-op [Rolla/Rolette] Cougars with a 67-61 win on Monday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 63-61 back in December of 2024.

St. John's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Simon LaRocque, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 16 boards. The dominant performance also gave LaRocque a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Madden Parisien, who went 7 for 13 en route to 22 points and five rebounds.

St. John was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive games.

St. John's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6. As for North Prairie co-op [Rolla/Rolette], they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

St. John wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 87-69 defeat against New Rockford-Sheyenne on the 14th. As for North Prairie co-op [Rolla/Rolette], they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Westhope/Newburg at 7:15 p.m. on January 30th.
