Baseball Game Preview: Lake Region Lakers vs. Fryeburg Raiders

Lake Region is 1-9 against Fryeburg since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Lakers will welcome the Raiders at 2:00 p.m. Fryeburg took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Lake Region, who comes in off a win.

Lake Region took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Freeport with a sharp 8-1 win. The Lakers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Fryeburg came up short against York last Monday and fell 8-4. The Raiders have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Alex Allain made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and two doubles. He has become a key player for Fryeburg: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brady Chappell, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Lake Region pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fryeburg, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
