Soccer Game Preview: Rolling Meadows vs. Glenbrook North

The Rolling Meadows Mustangs will be taking part in a tournament against the Glenbrook North Spartans at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Rolling Meadows' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Rolling Meadows fell victim to Palatine and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Glenbrook North). Everything went their way against Niles North on Tuesday as they made off with a 6-0 victory. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Glenbrook North's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Niles North are ranked 297th).

The win made it two in a row for Glenbrook North and bumps their season record up to 6-2-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored nine goals over those two matchups. As for Rolling Meadows, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Rolling Meadows couldn't quite get it done against Glenbrook North in their previous matchup back in March of 2019 as they fell 3-1. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
