Recap: Centerville Tigers vs. West Sabine Tigers
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Centerville Tigers had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They breezed by West Sabine at home to the tune of 42-12. Considering Centerville has won eight contests by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Zantayl Holley went supernova for Centerville, rushing for 184 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Holley was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Newman, who rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
The win (which was Centerville's sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 West Hardin and 1-9 Normangee (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 30.5% over those games). As for West Sabine, they bumped their record down to 4-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Centerville will take on Honey Grove at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Honey Grove knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Centerville likes a good challenge. West Sabine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
