Basketball Recap: Northside - Pinetown Takes a Loss

Northside - Pinetown was the 68-59 winner over Lejeune when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Northside - Pinetown Panthers fell to the Lejeune Devil Pups 58-54.

When it comes to explaining why Northside - Pinetown lost on Saturday, don't look at Malachi Moore. Despite the final result, he posted 20 points and five boards. That was a full 37% of Northside - Pinetown's points, marking the third time in a row Moore has scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zi'Mier Alexander, who put up eight points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Northside - Pinetown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Devon Charles continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lejeune, putting up 22 points and eight boards. Charles is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Connor Shea was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Northside - Pinetown's defeat dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Lejeune, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Northside - Pinetown and Lejeune are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Northside - Pinetown will take on North Duplin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northside - Pinetown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.7 points per game this season. As for Lejeune, they will host Bear Grass Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lejeune knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 contests -- so hopefully Bear Grass Charter likes a good challenge.
