Basketball Recap: Alamo Heights Comes Up Short

Alamo Heights was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-49 heartbreaker at the hands of the Veterans Memorial Patriots. The Mules were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 61-38.

When it comes to explaining why Alamo Heights lost, don't look at Berkley Hart. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. Hart has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 13 times she's played. Brinley Leavitt was another key player, putting up four points in addition to 12 boards and three steals.

Alamo Heights' record is now 10-15. As for Veterans Memorial, their win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-20.

Alamo Heights has already played their next matchup, a 48-35 victory against Smithson Valley on the 14th. As for Veterans Memorial, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 80-30 defeat against Boerne on the 14th.
