Football Recap: Green Valley Has No Trouble Against Legacy + How To Watch

Green Valley won the last time they faced Legacy and things went their way on Friday too. The Gators enjoyed a cozy 34-18 win over the Longhorns. That 16 point margin sets a new team best for the Gators this season.

Sonny Uranich was his usual excellent self, rushing for 277 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 16.3 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Michael Lewis, who threw for 150 yards and two TDs on only 11 passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Green Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 339 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Green Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kalil Usher and Blake Brickhouse.

Despite the loss, Legacy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore JaeLynn Love- Carter threw for 220 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt. 87 of those passing yards were hauled in by Jeremiah Turner, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Green Valley's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 8.7 yards per carry in those games compared to only three in the others. As for Legacy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Green Valley will challenge Desert Pines at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 975 yards in their previous games. Legacy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
