Baseball Recap: Auburn Find Success

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Auburn ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Nokomis Redskins, sneaking past 6-5. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 4-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brady Boylen made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Peyton Campbell was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Evan Kessler was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run.

Auburn's victory bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Nokomis, they moved to 15-13 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Auburn will host Pawnee at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Nokomis, they will welcome Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
