Simla extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 9-4 in the process. Everything went their way against the Evangel Christian Academy Eagles as they made off with a 10-2 win. Considering the Cubs have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Wyatt Stanko and T.J. Eurich were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Stanko pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Eurich struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. At bat, Stanko got on base in all five of his plate appearances with seven stolen bases and two runs, while Eurich went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Simla is undefeated when Eurich posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Teague Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Logan Rayfield was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
As for Evangel Christian Academy, they now have a losing record of 5-6. They have struggled against Simla recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Like Simla, Evangel Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Zachary Blair. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Blair was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Blair wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anderson Schultz, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Simla will head out on the road to take on Otis at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cubs 3.8, the Bulldogs 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Evangel Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Cripple Creek-Victor at 4:30 p.m. The Pioneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.5 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
