Matoaca hasn't had much luck against L.C. Bird recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Matoaca Warriors will challenge the L.C. Bird Skyhawks at 6:00 p.m. Matoaca is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season.
Matoaca will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Midlothian, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Matoaca strolled past Midlothian with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 54-37.

Kailah Carter was her usual excellent self, going 8-for-11 on her way to 24 points and four steals. Her evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Sydney Richardson, who went 5-for-10 en route to 14 points and six steals.
Meanwhile, L.C. Bird had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.4 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 65-50 win over the Titans.
L.C. Bird's win came from a few key players Matoaca will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sasha Hodge, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 17 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamari Simon, who posted 11 points and six steals.
L.C. Bird smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive games.
L.C. Bird pushed their record up to 18-5 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points over those games. As for Matoaca, their record is now 12-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Matoaca has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 24.8 boards per game. However, it's not like L.C. Bird struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Matoaca took a serious blow against L.C. Bird when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 50-21. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of L.C.
