Football Game Preview: Waverly-Shell Rock Go-Hawks vs. Xavier Saints

Waverly-Shell Rock is 0-7 against Xavier since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Go-Hawks will challenge the Saints.

Waverly-Shell Rock is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 56 points two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Decorah-North Winneshiek on Friday. They were beaten by the Vikings 37-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Go-Hawks were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Xavier strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Mason City, posting a 41-3 victory. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa football rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Mohawks are ranked 66th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Xavier's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Waverly-Shell Rock, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Waverly-Shell Rock suffered a grim 42-21 defeat to Xavier when the teams last played on October 3rd. Can the Go-Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
