Baseball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Erie

Erie barely beat Longmont the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won six in a row.

Austin Sieckmann looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Erie got a big performance out of Jack Carnival, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Carnival has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Josiah Hussey, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Erie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Longmont only posted an OBP of .276.

Erie's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Longmont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Erie will welcome Mead at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Longmont, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Northfield at 11:00 a.m. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Nighthawks have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season.
