Baseball Game Preview: Zionsville Eagles vs. Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles

The Zionsville Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Zionsville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Carmel, who was ranked 14th at the time (Zionsville was ranked 20th). The Eagles came up short against the Greyhounds on Saturday, falling 9-3. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Guerin Catholic scored first but ultimately less than Mt. Vernon in their matchup on Thursday. They lost 12-2 to the Marauders. The loss continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their meetings with the Marauders: they've now lost four in a row.

Guerin Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Karson Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Guerin Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Zionsville, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Zionsville couldn't quite get it done against Guerin Catholic in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 16-13. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
