Basketball Recap: Southampton Academy Raiders vs. Tidewater Academy Warriors
The Southampton Academy Raiders won the last time they faced the Tidewater Academy Warriors, and things went their way on Friday too. Southampton Academy blew past the Warriors, posting a 61-32 victory at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Southampton Academy.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southampton Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than G Applewhite, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 23 rebounds. Applewhite is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 18 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of H Hurst, who scored 12 points along with six steals.
Southampton Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Tidewater Academy, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southampton Academy will take on the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Virginia (Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot is ranked 366th, while the Raiders are ranked 358th). As for Tidewater Academy, they will be playing at home against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Amelia Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
