Football Recap: Holliday Takes a Loss

After flying high against Valley View last Friday, Holliday came back down to earth. The Eagles fell 34-27 to the City View Mustangs on Thursday. The Eagles gained 82 more yards on the day, but it was the Mustangs that made the best use of them.

Landon Jones threw for 230 yards and one touchdown. Brayden Hamill was his top target, picking up 96 receiving yards and one TD.

It was another big night for Malachi Williams, who rushed for 77 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 181 yards and a pair of touchdowns for City View. Williams didn't just play on offense: he also made seven total tackles and defended two passes.

Holliday's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for City View, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Holliday will take on rival Henrietta at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. Meanwhile, City View is set to face off against their familiar foe Millsap at 7:30 p.m. on the 31st.
