Baseball Recap: Milan Victorious

Milan's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Rising Sun Shiners as they made off with a 13-6 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Tommy Poole made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Poole was also solid in the batter's box, earning three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Milan let Dillan Engel and Brady Alcorn run wild. Engel went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Alcorn went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those hits marked the first that Engel has got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of John McKeown, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Milan's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Rising Sun, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Milan wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 12-2 defeat against South Dearborn on the 19th. As for Rising Sun, they will face off against Shawe Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hilltoppers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.75 runs per game on average), something the Shiners will no doubt try to take advantage of.
