Mercer Island is 9-1 against Sammamish since October of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Islanders will face off against the RedHawks at 7:30 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Mercer Island is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Cedarcrest just ended the team's seven-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Red Wolves by a score of 1-0. The shutout was out of character for Mercer Island seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in September.

Meanwhile, Sammamish fell victim to Newport - Bellevue and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to the Knights. Sammamish have struggled against Newport - Bellevue recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Sammamish's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Mercer Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-2-1.

Everything went Mercer Island's way against Sammamish in their previous meeting back in September, as Mercer Island made off with a 9-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Islanders since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
