Preview: Warsaw Wildcats vs. Lincoln Cardinals
Warsaw has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Lincoln Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for Warsaw, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-39 loss to Cole Camp. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Warsaw in their matchups with Cole Camp: they've now lost three in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Logan Gemes, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Siebert, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Lincoln's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on January 5th after their third straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 51-43 loss to Smithton.
Warsaw bumped their record down to 2-12 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Lincoln, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Warsaw barely slipped by Lincoln in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, winning 60-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for Warsaw since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
