Preview: Milford Central Wildcats vs. Morris Central Mustangs
Milford Central is 2-8 against Morris Central since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The two teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Milford Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 62-51 win over Cherry Valley-Springfield.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Milford Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Christian Lawson, who scored 18 points along with five assists and four steals. Lawson is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Stevens, who scored 15 points along with six assists and six steals.
Meanwhile, Morris Central lost to Madison Central on the road by a decisive 75-57 margin back in December of 2023. Morris Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Milford Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Morris Central, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3.
