Softball Recap: Robinson Knights vs. Newsome Wolves
Robinson extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 7-14 in the process. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newsome Wolves. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 11-0 to the Wolves when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Julia Garden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.
As for Newsome, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games.
On Newsome's side, Allyson Conner looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, Sarai Nicholas was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Harrelson, who earned one run and two stolen bases.
Looking ahead, Robinson will take on Academy of the Holy Names at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. Newsome does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
