Basketball Game Preview: Wheeler Bearcats vs. Whiting Oilers

The Wheeler Bearcats will take on the Whiting Oilers at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Wheeler will be strutting in after a victory while Whiting will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Wheeler turned things around against Boone Grove on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 57-36 margin over the Wolves. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Bearcats have posted since December 12, 2024.

Meanwhile, Whiting was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Westville and fell 74-14. The contest marked the Oilers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Wheeler's victory bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Whiting, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Wheeler strolled past Whiting when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a score of 55-41. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Whiting's Alyssa Quinones, who went 8 for 19 en route to 23 points and five steals.
