Basketball Recap: Grantsville Cowboys vs. Morgan Trojans

Grantsville lost against Morgan on January 10th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Grantsville Cowboys were dealt a 74-44 defeat at the hands of the Morgan Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Cowboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Trojans are ranked 15th).

Leading Morgan to victory were Kolton Asay and Bracken Saunders. Asay went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points, while Saunders went 10 of 16 on his way to 21 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 boards.

Grantsville's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Morgan, the victory (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 19-1.

Grantsville will welcome South Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Summit is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.4 points per game this season. As for Morgan, they will face off against Union at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Morgan knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 20 matchups -- so hopefully Union likes a good challenge.
