Recap: Rancho Rams vs. Sunrise Mountain Miners
The Rancho Rams were the 58-37 winner over the Sunrise Mountain Miners when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Rancho lost to Sunrise Mountain on the road by a decisive 67-51 margin on Friday. Rancho has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Rams players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taylor Dagons, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaelle Phipps, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Rancho struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Sunrise Mountain pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
Delyla Ross was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 34 points, 12 rebounds, and nine steals for Sunrise Mountain. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ross has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Giselle Serrano almeida, who scored 11 points along with eight steals.
Rancho's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Sunrise Mountain, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rancho will square off against Cimarron-Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sunrise Mountain, they will head out on the road to challenge Del Sol at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Del Sol is ranked 31st, while Sunrise Mountain is ranked 37th).
