New Lothrop dropped down to 5-2 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They took a hard 28-14 fall against the Montrose Rams. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 189th, while the Rams are ranked 42nd).

When it comes to explaining why New Lothrop lost, don't look at Aaron Wenzlick. Despite the final result, he picked up 158 receiving yards and one score. That receiving touchdown marked the first that Wenzlick has hauled in this season.

As for Montrose, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.4 points on average this season.

Griffin Oneal was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 76 yards and three touchdowns, and also caught one TD.
