It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Old Forge ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Riverside Vikings 3-2. The victory was nothing new for the Blue Devils as they're now sitting on seven straight.

The team relied heavily on Frank Pero, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Old Forge pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Riverside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Old Forge will challenge rival Mid Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Blue Devils 2.7, the Spartans 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Riverside is set to take on their familiar foe Western Wayne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
