Basketball Recap: Lakeland Christian Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Lakeland Christian couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were beaten by the Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers 67-13 on Friday. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Vikings, who until this match were averaging 29 points allowed.

Rudi Jessee was Lakeland Christian's leading scorer, having posted four points. Jessee also led the team in assists with two. Kiya Boyce held things down on the boards with five rebounds.

Leila Bryant was her usual excellent self, going 8-for-15 to rack up 21 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy. Bryant's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadalynn Morel, who posted seven points along with nine steals and seven boards.

Lakeland Christian's loss dropped their record down to 21-6. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.

Lakeland Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, they will take on Providence School at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Providence School comes in on ten and Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy on nine.
