Basketball Game Preview: Wallkill Panthers vs. Marlboro Central Dukes

The Wallkill Panthers will take on the Marlboro Central Dukes at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Wallkill took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Saugerties with a sharp 58-35 win. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Sawyers are ranked 399th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Marlboro Central didn't have too much trouble with New Paltz on Monday as they won 51-37. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dukes.

Marlboro Central is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Wallkill, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Everything went Wallkill's way against Marlboro Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Wallkill made off with a 70-50 win. In that contest, Wallkill amassed a halftime lead of 45-25, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
