Jefferson is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They came up short against Kentlake, falling 7-1.
Delaney Merritt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 15 Ks.
At the plate, Jefferson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jesabella Arceo, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Hornets on Tuesday. Enumclaw blew past White River 16-4. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Enumclaw considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Alyssa Harris made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Ashlyn Elder was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ava Lim, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Enumclaw kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.
Enumclaw now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Jefferson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Enumclaw struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Jefferson suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to Enumclaw when the teams last played back in March of 2019. Can Jefferson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
