Baseball Recap: Heritage Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Heritage, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Pittsburg Pirates on Thursday as they made off with a 19-4 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Patriots needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Alonzo Alvarez was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Jason Stevens was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double.

Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pittsburg only posted an OBP of .364.

Heritage's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Pittsburg, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Heritage is set to face off against their familiar foe Freedom at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 2, the Falcons 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Pittsburg will challenge rival Liberty at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
