Baseball Recap: Carter Extends Winning Streak to Three

Carter had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against the Keene Chargers by a score of 8-5. That's two games straight that the Cowboys have won by exactly three runs.

Asa Lewis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Carter is 3-1-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-11 otherwise. Lewis was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Sean Armster was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. Bonifacio Gomez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Carter's record is now 8-12-1. As for Keene, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Looking ahead, Carter will take on Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Keene, they will be playing at home against Village Tech at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Viper Squid have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.91 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
