Basketball Recap: Smith Carver's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Columbus over Glenwood

After flying high against Crawford County on Tuesday, Columbus came back down to earth. The Blue Devils took a hard 59-45 fall against the Glenwood Gators on Saturday.

Columbus lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Smith Carver, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 13 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last three games he's played. Jaireus Johnson was another key player, putting up nine points and seven boards.

Glenwood found their leader in sophomore Braylen Alexander, who almost dropped a double-double with 28 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tyler Claridy, who posted 11 points in addition to six boards and five steals.

Columbus' defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-2.

Columbus didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-39 loss against Northgate on the 24th. As for Glenwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-35 win against Terrell Academy on the 25th.
