Basketball Preview: Pen Argyl Green Knights vs. Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders
Pen Argyl is 0-10 against the Crusaders since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Pen Argyl Green Knights will stay at home for another game and welcome the Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders at 12:45 p.m. on February 3rd. Pen Argyl will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 626th, while the Crusaders are ranked 113th).
Last Thursday, Pen Argyl was the victim of a rough 42-20 loss at the hands of the Lions. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pen Argyl in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost four in a row.
Defeat or not, Pen Argyl got some senior leadership from Ethan Holland and Chase Kennedy. Holland scored 11 points along with eight rebounds, while Kennedy. scored six points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Holland has scored all season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Pen Argyl struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They are winless (0-3) when they just don't pass the ball.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame-Green Pond came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Saucon Valley 57-39.
Pen Argyl has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which is still a better percentage than their 4-16 record this season. As for Notre Dame-Green Pond, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2.
