Basketball Recap: Montrose Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Montrose suffered their biggest defeat since February 21st on Friday. They had to suffer through a 63-33 loss at the hands of the Peak to Peak Pumas. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Red Hawks' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Despite the loss, Montrose saw an underclassman step up: freshman Cache Oberg went 5-for-9 en route to 10 points. Oberg also set a new season-high mark in field goal percentage with 56%. Kayleb Rogers also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Peak to Peak's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tysen Burton, who shot 54% from the field on his way to 18 points and four steals. Burton has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 16 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dane Hirt, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 15 points and eight boards.

Montrose's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Peak to Peak, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Montrose has already played their next game, a 61-41 loss against Forge Christian on the 13th. As for Peak to Peak, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 60-24 victory against Basalt on the 13th.
